Opening seminar March 5, 2024
The center was officially opened with an opening seminar on March 5, 2024 in the Auditorium at the Psychiatric Clinic in Sandviken.

During the opening, several congratulatory speeches were given by Anne Marie Haga, CEO of the Trond Mohn Research Foundation, Per Bakke, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Bergen (UiB), Eivind Hansen, Managing Director of Bergen Health HF, and Petter Andreas Ringen, Clinical Director for Mental Health and Addiction at Oslo University Hospital (OUS).
Successful opening
The academic part of the seminar began with Erik Johnsen's description of the excess mortality experienced by people with mental disorders throughout their lives.
He also presented the center's overall goal, which is to reduce excess mortality, improve treatment outcomes for mental disorders, and reduce risk factors for somatic conditions and suicide.
The academic part of the opening seminar continued with presentations by Thomas Werge on the importance of precision psychiatry and the role of genetics in psychiatric disorders.
Rune Andreas Kroken provided insight into the STABIL-NOR project focusing on the quality of life for patients with psychotic disorders.
Furthermore, Trine Vik Lagerberg introduced innovative approaches through the PEDAL intervention, which investigates the potential for psychoeducation and digital tools in the treatment of bipolar disorder.
