Forhelse collaborates with Amsterdam Centre for Implementation Science (AmsCIS)

Doctoral fellow at Forhelse Reidar Nævdal had this spring a research stay at AmsCIS, Amsterdam University Medical Center. AmsCIS is currently involved in research on an extended version of the digital implementation tool ItFits – Toolkit. ItFits is a customized tool that provides practitioners with systematic and evidence-based help in finding useful implementation strategies.

The ItFits tool is a central part of Nævdal’s PhD, and the research stay has therefore been a valuable opportunity to learn, exchange ideas and experiences with both experienced researchers and research fellows. ItFits has been developed by ImpleMentAll, which is a project in the EU Horizon 2020 research and innovation program. ItFits – Toolkit

During his stay, Nævdal presented research currently being conducted on the ItFits toolkit in Norwegian healthcare. Nævdal also participated in a workshop on qualitative research, data collection and conducting realistic evaluation. The workshop was led by AmsCIS staff together with several international partners from the EU-funded PIECES project, which aims to increase the reach and impact of primary cancer prevention.

Increased international cooperation

For Forhelse SFI (center for research-driven innovation), the stay entails a strengthened international network and increased visibility. Collaboration has been strengthened both with AmsCIS and with other European research institutions through Nævdal’s participation and presentations in the PIECES project. A collaboration has now been initiated on methods and statistics for an article on how to change strategies for guided internet treatment in mental health (ICBT), affects acceptance and implementation among ICBT therapists.

A direct result of the stay at the University of Amsterdam is now a submitted article on therapists’ ICBT acceptance in Norway.

– AmsCIS has employees with very different academic backgrounds, which has given me a broader perspective and challenged my own ideas about which parts of my research are most important,
says Reidar Nævdal.
