Zareen Abbas Khan defended her PhD thesis

On Thursday, February 5, PhD candidate Zareen Abbas Khan defended her thesis at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at NTNU. This was a big day for Forhelse, as Abbas Khan's work is a very important contribution to Forhelse's work package 2, Cost-benefit.

The title of the thesis was "Cost-effectiveness of digital psychological interventions: Methodological challenges and empirical evidence".

The topic of the trial lecture was "The role of artificial intelligence in advancing health economic evaluation".

Zareen Abbas Khan completed her dissertation in a particularly excellent way! We are very pleased that she will now continue her post doc project at Forhelse SFI, the center for research-driven innovation in Helse Bergen. Zareen will then continue to be a contributor to work package 2 "Cost-benefit", says Vidar Halsteinli, work package leader at Forhelse SFI.

Zareen started her PhD project at NTNU in 2021, and submitted her thesis for assessment in August 2025. She currently works at St.Olav's Hospital in Trondheim.

The committee included researcher Kim Rand at Akershus University Hospital, Professor/Scientific Director Silvia M.A.A. Evers, CAPHRI, Maastricht University and Professor Aslak Steinsbekk from NTNU. Zareen's main supervisor was Vidar Halsteinli, a researcher at St.Olav's Hospital and work package leader at Forhelse. Co-supervisors were Professor Kristian Kidholm, University of Southern Denmark Odense, Professor Imre Janszky, NTNU, researcher Filip Drozd, RBUP Health SouthEast and researcher Silje Marie Haga, RBUP Health SouthEast.
