Big 5, a low-threshold course for mental health
In this study, we investigate how the digital course Big 5, developed in Australia, can work in a Norwegian context. The aim is to find out if simple daily actions can help reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression.

What is the study about?
410 participants from all over Norway are randomly assigned to one of three groups.
5 good habits – a digital module with daily SMS reminders for four weeks
Gratitude intervention – a module with daily SMS reminders for four weeks
Waiting list – access to 5 good habits after four weeks, but without SMS
Participants complete short questionnaires along the way, and during the follow-up period. The study does not involve physical attendance.
The course is intended for those who :
- have some anxiety or depressive symptoms
- have reached the age of 16
- are resident in Norway and have a Norwegian national identity number
The course is not suitable for those who:
- you have strong suicidal thoughts
- you cannot read Norwegian or English
