Work package H2 Depression deals with the development of treatment and self-help for young people with depression. In this work package, we have chosen to look at Australia, where the Mindspot clinic delivers research-based digital health care to the entire country. In the UngMeistrings project, we have been allowed to translate the Big 5 program from Mindspot. This has been shown in a number of studies in a number of countries to produce positive changes in depression and anxiety symptoms. The program is aimed at a public health perspective and the adult population.
In August 2025, we will open a randomized controlled study to see if the program also works in Norway. Here, we will compare the effect with a group that receives a gratitude program and a waiting list. We have adapted the program to Norwegian conditions, including by using examples from Norwegian daily life. We will make the program available to everyone over the age of 16, and we will offer a Norwegian and an English version. We want to recruit 400 people to implement the program and to fill out a questionnaire that will give us knowledge about whether this can also be used outside of a research framework.
