Professor Adrian Harwood, Cardiff University, captured the audience with his talk on iPSCs technology for psychiatric disorders.

The 2nd International Meeting on Regenerative Medicine featured a diverse program and engaging presentations on topics ranging from stem cells and immunotherapy to tissue engineering and beyond.

Day 1 was dedicated to applications of mesenchymal stem cells (Cecilie Gjerde and Susanna Miettinen), natural killer (NK) cells (Karl Johan Malmberg) and cell-free strategies for regeneration (Siddhart Vivek Shanbhag). The cell therapy session was followed by a talk on the Nordic EATRIS ATMP hub (Anita Kavlie) and the Lightning Talk session, where young investigators presented their exciting work.

The awards for the best presentations in Lightning talks were earned by Lovise G. Paris and Thomas A. Legøy.

This session was one of the event's highlights. It featured five excellent young researchers who presented their research effectively and concisely. The evaluation committee concluded that Lovise Gangeskar Paris and Thomas Aga Legøy delivered the top two presentations and were awarded the Lightning Talks award during the following mingle dinner (see photo). Their presentations were titled "Proteomic analysis of human gingival fibroblast secretomes from healthy and periodontitis patients" and “Impact of endocrine disruptors on MODY3 iPSCs differentiation toward SC-islets – potential diabetogens”.

Day 2 started with presentations on immunotherapy for cancer treatment. Karl-Henning Kalland gave a talk on cryo-immunotherapy for the treatment of prostate cancer, and Isabelle Magalhaes presented CAR-T cell therapy for ovarian cancer treatment. Emma Haapaniemi showed their T cell gene editing strategies for inborn errors of immunity using the CRISPR-Cas9 system. Esko Kankuri presented innovative cell therapy for heart failure.

Session 5 was dedicated to iPSC technology and product pipeline, featuring Adrian Harwood and Daniel Twohig.

Anna Pasetto concluded the conference by delivering an important presentation on bridging the gap between research protocols and GMP standards in clinical trials,  comparing GMP personnel to astronauts.

Lastly, the conference would not have been possible without the sponsors, and we are grateful for their contributions as sponsors, exhibitors, and active participants during the meeting.
