Controversies: Early Intervention in Psychosis
In several parts of the country, there are dedicated teams and initiatives aimed at detecting psychosis earlier — but what are the practical consequences of this for the patients?

About the project
Project period: 2024-2029
Early intervention (EI) in psychosis aims to detect and treat psychosis as early as possible, in order to limit the negative consequences of the illness and help patients return to everyday life. However, there is ongoing debate about which interventions are most effective, whether diagnostic thresholds may become too low, and to what extent young people or first-episode psychosis patients benefit most from specialised EI services. The project uses comprehensive health registries and other national registry data to shed new light on these questions.
The project is funded by the Research Council of Norway – HELSEVEL – “Good and Effective Health, Care and Welfare Services” – #326407
