Yvan Samir Belakebi-Joly

Hei! My name is Yvan Belakebi-Joly, I am 25 years old. I obtained my Masters’ degree at Ecole Nationale Supérieure de l’Administration Economique (ENSAE Paris) in 2023 with a focus on statistics, data science and learning.

In 2025, after a 2 years’ experience in software development in Berlin, I started as a data engineer at Haukeland University hospital’s department of pathology. My missions include extending and maintaining a regional Whole Slide Images’ database, and participating in the development of AI pipelines and tools in the context of kidney diseases.

We aim at providing innovative computational solutions, always destined to improve diagnosis, prognosis and treatment for patients suffering from kidney diseases. Data availability is a central challenge to address in digital pathology, and the computational challenges to use them call for careful customization in order to work towards clinical adoption.

After the explosion of Large Language Models (LLMs), it is an exciting time for research in AI. It gave even more momentum and showed the immense potential of this field. I believe we have a chance to make people’s lives better and am thrilled to be part of this process!
