International Collaboration

Department of International Collaboration (DIC) was established in 2003. Haukeland University Hospital (HUH) is the leading hospital in Norway, participating in international collaboration with hospitals in the South. We coordinate an increasing number of international projects.  Our vision is to have a comprehensive and broad medical collaboration with selected partner hospitals in Africa and Asia.

At any given time the department coordinates around 20 projects, and about 25 HUS employees are stationed abroad in one of the projects.
Department of International Collaboration (DIC) was established in October 2003 at the initiative of the board of Haukeland University Hospital (HUH). The department coordinates the international activities towards partner institutions in the South and reports directly to the management at HUH.
The mandates of DIC are personnel administration and providing service to the clinical departments when it comes to administration of international projects. DIC assists the clinical departments in project design, application to donors and monitoring of the projects, including reporting on expenditures and budgets.

The department provides updated information about the collaborating countries and has the formal contact with donors and Norwegian Embassies. DIC is responsible for signing of new agreements with donors, collaborating institutions and government agencies in the collaborating countries.

DIC coordinates a steadily increasing number of projects in collaboration with the partner institutions in the South. The department is mainly financed through external projects, but also receives an annual, earmarked allocation from HUH for international activities for employees at HUH.
